Who we are

What this website collects

If you submit a form on this site we collect the information you type into it — typically your email address, your name, your company and a description of your project. We use it to reply to you and to scope the work. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone outside our team.

If you subscribe to the newsletter we store your email address until you unsubscribe. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.

We use analytics to understand which pages are useful. This collects aggregate, non-identifying information such as page views and approximate location at country level.

Files you send us

If you upload a sample file it is used solely to assess your project and produce a quote. It is deleted once the assessment is complete unless the project proceeds, in which case our standard retention and deletion policy applies.

Client project data

Data you provide as part of a paid engagement is covered by our security and confidentiality policy and, where signed, by the NDA and Data Processing Agreement between us. In short: it is worked on by the assigned team only, never resold, and deleted after you approve delivery.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@thedatacollection.com and we will action it within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK you have these rights under GDPR; we extend the same rights to everyone regardless of location.

This site uses functional cookies necessary for it to work, and analytics cookies to measure page performance. It does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Terms of service

Scope and quotes

Every project is quoted against a written scope. The quoted price is fixed for that scope. If the work changes materially we will stop and re-quote before continuing — you will never receive an invoice larger than a figure you have approved.

Test batches and revisions

For most projects we deliver a representative test batch for your approval before processing the full dataset. Revisions are unlimited until you sign off on the delivery.

The Bounce-Back Guarantee

Where we deliver email addresses, any address that hard-bounces and is reported to us within 5 days of delivery will be replaced free of charge.

Payment

Terms are agreed at scoping. Typically 50% on acceptance and 50% on delivery for project work, or monthly in advance for retainers.

What we do not do

We do not provide cold calling or software development services. We do not knowingly process data that has been obtained unlawfully, and we may decline or stop a project if we believe that to be the case.

Limitation

Our liability for any project is limited to the fees paid for that project. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of delivered data.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially we will update the date at the top and, for existing clients, tell you directly.
